The port of Venice enjoys favorable characteristics related to its geographic location, weather conditions, currents and tides, roadstead and waiting areas, access to the port, network of inland channels, availability of storage areas, foreland and hinterland. The port is conveniently located at the center of the Venetian lagoon, separated from the sea by a long, thin strip of land interrupted at three points, corresponding to the port mouths of Lido, Malamocco, and Chioggia.

The terminal is located at the junction of the port area and the industrial area of Marghera Port. It is connected and has several rail lines serving the yards and storage warehouses.
