MarterNeri S.p.a. was formed through the merger of two historical port logistics companies, Livorno-based Neri S.r.l., founded in 1920, and Monfalcone-based Mar-Ter Spedizioni S.p.a., founded in 1969. MarterNeri’s main activities are related to the unloading, warehousing in bonded warehouses and delivery of forest products (wood pulp, paper, timber), metals and other bulk commodities to major national and international customers MarterNeri is an authorized port enterprise (Article 16/18 Law 84/1994), a terminal operator with areas and quays with a maximum draft of 13.00 mt under concession and a shipping agency in the ports of Livorno and Monfalcone, as well as an Authorized Customs Operator (AEO).

As a result of the merger with Silos, MarterNeri also offers third-party services for ship unloading, storage in flat warehouses and silos, and import-related handling and redelivery of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, flours and residues from the processing of vegetable and forest products (cellulose).

MarterNeri Spa offers all port and customs services from the arrival of goods at the port to the final destination taking care of distribution:

  • via truck: making use of stable contracts with several trucking companies located throughout the country, guaranteeing service stability and competitive costs;
  • via rail: MarterNeri has strengthened its business relationship with railroads by consolidating its position among the major national distributors of pulp by rail even for unconnected end recipients, providing multimodal service to final destination;
  • via coaster: MarterNeri organizes and manages cellulose transshipments from Livorno and Monfalcone to various Mediterranean ports.

For the storage part, Silos has equipment that allows the company to efficiently manage all stages of the process: from storage to specific weight control, including temperature and humidity checks: essential steps to guarantee the organoleptic qualities of the product. The company is also authorised by the CCPB to introduce products of organic origin. The terminal is a D.D.P. No. 7040/C and guarantees the rights of foreign goods at customs.

MarterNeri places the utmost care in all phases of the work, from port services to loading and unloading, carried out with its own specialized personnel. It also relies on constant and careful staff training for absolute compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

The port of Livorno overlooks the Upper Tyrrhenian Sea, in the northwestern part of Tuscany, classified as a core within the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) is a multipurpose port of call, equipped with infrastructure and means to accommodate any type of ship and to handle any commodity category, connected to the main national road and rail arteries. The port of Monfalcone is the northernmost port of call in the Adriatic and, consequently, the closest to the center of Europe. Fully equipped to handle any kind of goods, with 1,500 m. of operational quays, max draught m. 10.90 it is today one of the most efficient Italian ports of call.

The port of Livorno is an important multipurpose port of call: besides being connected to national road and rail arteries,it is also strategically close to the airport areas of Pisa and Florence.
